Rad Power Bikes display error 22
Throttle Fault
the bike is not seeing the throttle signal it expects, so it may disable motor power to prevent unexpected acceleration.

What Error 22 Means
Error 22 means the controller is detecting an abnormal signal from the throttle.
In plain English, the bike is not seeing the throttle signal it expects, so it may disable motor power to prevent unexpected acceleration.
Throttle being held or stuck when the bike turns on
- Loose throttle connector
- Water or dirt inside the connector
Damaged wiring or connector pins
Throttle that does not return normally
Failed throttle or controller input
Before You Touch Anything
Turn the bike off and remove the battery before disconnecting electrical connectors. Check the throttle itself first. Do not ride the bike if:
The throttle sticks or does not return normally
- The motor tries to run without intentional throttle input
The bike accelerates unexpectedly
The throttle or its wiring is visibly damaged
1. Make Sure the Throttle Is Released
Move the throttle gently and release it. It should return freely to its normal resting position.
If it feels sticky, damaged, or slow to return, stop here. The throttle may need repair or replacement.
2. Restart the Bike
With your hand completely off the throttle, turn the bike on again.
If Error 22 disappears, the throttle may have been partially engaged during startup. Test it carefully in a safe area before riding normally.
3. Check the Throttle Connector
Turn the bike off and remove the battery. Follow the wire from the throttle on the handlebar until you find its electrical connector.
Pull the two sides straight apart. Do not twist the connector and do not pull on the wires.
4. Inspect the Connector
- Water or moisture
- Dirt or debris
- Bent or pushed-back pins
- Corrosion
Damaged wiring
Cracked or broken connector housing
5. Reconnect the Throttle
If everything looks clean and undamaged, line up the arrows, notches, or pins and push the two sides straight together without twisting. Make sure the connection is fully seated.
6. Test the Bike
Reinstall the battery and turn the bike on with your hand completely off the throttle.
- The motor should respond smoothly when you use the throttle and stop providing throttle power as soon as you release it. If the throttle behaves unpredictably, stop riding.
Error 22 Still Showing?
If the connector looks good but Error 22 keeps returning, the throttle circuit may need professional testing.
Failed throttle sensor
Internal throttle damage
Damaged throttle wiring
Connector or harness problem
Controller input fault
Quick Answer
Error 22 = throttle fault.
The controller is detecting an abnormal throttle signal and may disable motor power to prevent unexpected acceleration.
1. Make sure the throttle is completely released.
2. Check that it moves freely and returns normally.
3. Restart the bike without touching the throttle.
4. Check the throttle connector.
5. Look for water, dirt, bent pins, or damaged wiring.
6. Reconnect the connector firmly without twisting.
7. If Error 22 returns, have the throttle, wiring, or controller tested.
Do not ride the bike if the throttle sticks, fails to return normally, or causes unexpected motor power.

Error numbers are not universal across all e-bikes. Another display, controller, or motor system may use the same number for a different problem. Confirm the bike's electrical platform before applying this troubleshooting procedure.
The other codes in this set
These five are all electrical faults and all five stop the ride. If this one does not match what your display shows, one of these will.
Not sure this is your code?
Codes are specific to the drive system, not the brand on the frame. If your display looks different from a Rad Power Bikes display, the same number can mean something else entirely.
