Boston riding means short, punchy hills like Beacon Hill and Mission Hill, narrow colonial-era streets, and a river network of paths, including the Paul Dudley White path along the Charles and the Southwest Corridor through Jamaica Plain, that make e-bike commuting genuinely faster than driving. The trade-off is weather: nor'easters bury bike lanes, road crews lay down heavy salt from November through March, and freeze-thaw cycles open wheel-eating potholes on Comm Ave and Dot Ave every spring. Students and hospital workers ride year-round, and Bluebikes' electric fleet has normalized assist for everyone else. Salt corrosion on drivetrains and connectors, brake wear from wet descents, and batteries stored in unheated porches and basements are the repairs we see most here.
We serve all of Boston, including Back Bay, South End, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Allston, Brighton, Charlestown, South Boston.

Our techs carry parts and diagnostic tools for the most common ebike platforms in Boston.
Massachusetts modernized its e-bike law in 2022, defining Class 1 (pedal-assist to 20 mph) and Class 2 (throttle to 20 mph) e-bikes and treating them essentially like bicycles, with no license or registration required. Class 3 e-bikes are not yet defined under state law, so 28 mph models occupy a gray area. Riders and passengers age 16 and under must wear helmets, the same rule that applies to conventional bikes. Class 1 and 2 e-bikes are generally allowed in bike lanes and on paths unless posted otherwise.
Laws change, verify current rules with your state DMV before riding.
Most Boston requests hear back from a certified tech within one business day and are serviced within 1 to 2 days. Ride-stopping problems get priority dispatch.
You get an upfront quote before any work starts. Most common repairs run $30 to $800 including parts and labor, and you approve the estimate first. Diagnostic fees typically credit toward the repair.
The tech tells you honestly what the fix needs, orders the right parts, and schedules a follow-up. You never pay for a repair that does not happen.
Yes. Techs carry parts and tools for the major platforms, including Rad Power, Lectric, Aventon, Super73, Trek, and Specialized, plus generic hub-drive imports. If you are unsure, submit the request anyway.
