Texas uses the three-class e-bike system: Class 1 pedal-assist up to 20 mph, Class 2 throttle-assist up to 20 mph, and Class 3 pedal-assist up to 28 mph. E-bikes are regulated like bicycles, so no driver's license, registration, or insurance is required. Riders must be at least 15 years old to operate a Class 3 e-bike, though younger riders may ride as passengers.
